Install Problems

Jun 11, 2008 at 11:52 AM
Hi,
I have a new (eval) install of Server Standard 2008 sp1, Sql 2008 & VS2008 & am attempting to install latest version of DinnerNow.

Preinstall checklist works fine with ticks in all required components. (including sql server 2005 express)

when i select build & configure it looks like he 1st script is red & shows errors. Then there is a white section that says SQL Native Client naed pipes provider could not open a connection to a sql server [53]. This goes on to say that under default settings sql server does not allow remote connections.

ive checked both sql2005 & sql2008 & both have remote connections enabled.

looks like the remainder of the install works fine.

any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance

I'm getting the same error in Vista, SQL Express 2005, Visual Studio Professional 2008. When i click on the Start Here for Dinner Now icon, or run the .bat from an elevated command prompt, the first line in red says:
Cannot find type [Microsoft.Sqlserver.Management.Smo.WMI.ServerAlias], followed by more database related errors that must follow on from this.

Okay, so I found the missing assembly by installing SQL Server Express 2008, however, it now says that I don't have SQL Server 2005 Express installed.

I'm having the same issue, anyone find a fix for this?
